Two year old POOH party!

Saturday Phoebe turned two. So we had a little party for her and her little friends. Soooooo many babies around, I was in heaven. I don’t think there was one moment I was baby less. Phoebe is obsessed with Winnie the Pooh right now so we had a lil Pooh theme.

I found some great ideas on Pinterest and tried to recreate them. Image First was the hunny pots. This is the image I found on Pinterest and these are the ones I made for the party. Gotta give a big thank you to the best friend for all the help with these. They are pretty damn good right. ImageOk a true “Nailed it” moment. We put Honey combs in most of them but also used one for the silverware! They were super easy with a little paint and a sharpie!

Next was the sign out front.Image  Here is what I found on Pinterest.

Here is what I made. This again was super easy. The boards came in the exact sizes I needed at AC Moore and I just used a brown marker on it.

Isn’t she the cutest thing? The tutu set and hair pin were from Little Lads and Lasses. I decided I wasn’t that crafty and just ordered one!!! I also decided to just order the favors for the children to take home instead of trying to make them.Image

I got these off ETSY.com at a little shop called Hannah Chocolate dream. Again they came out perfect and were a nice and easy favor to hand out. Another decoration we had is a banner I made last year which I put Velcro on and had 12 months worth of pictures of Phoebe on it. I simply took off last years 12 months and replace it with this years pictures. This is a great reusable decoration. Its made out of string and felt paper. Cut the felt into 12 triangles and connect them with the string. Put Velcro in middle of triangle and then place the pictures on the Velcro. The last cute decoration idea I forgot to get good pictures of. I made little food signs and tapped them to Phoebes little bath characters she has.

We had Pooh related foods. Like “Piglets in a blanket” which were turkey dogs and reduced fat crescent rolls!!! We had “Rabbit’s Vegetables” which was a simple veggie tray. Also, “Pooh’s hunny” which was the honey combs. Lastly, we had “Tigger’s Trail mix” which was a chex mix pack. I made super healthy pasta salad and no one noticed. My mother in law brought an awesome cake mix dip which was low in calories. It was so gooooooood!! Of course there was the normal unhealthy stuff too but I just wanted to make sure I had healthy options. The cake which was far from a healthy version was so cute.

Image

My parents got it from Piazza’s Bakery.

I had a little bit of everything. I focused more on the healthy foods but I didn’t deprive myself. If I wanted to try something, I just made sure I had good portion control and did not go over board. This worked well for me. I wasn’t obsessing over the food and did not over do it. Great party, Great company, Great day!!! Here is my absolute favorite picture from the day!!! Image

My baby is all grown up!!! I love those kisses!

Bringing back the graduation picture from 2004. Super long hair. I have had long hair for as long as I can remember. After my wedding in 2008 I chopped it all off and have had short hair ever since. I love short hair now. It’s so easy to maintain and looks healthier to me. I guess the hardest part of short hair is trying to put it up while working out but it really isn’t that bad. You can probably do more with long hair but I like to play around with my short hair. I still curl it, straighten it, pin it back. What’s your preference on you? Short or long hair? Pros and cons?

Picture from this weekend. Can’t really see the hair but you get the idea. My last post has a better picture of the short hair. Check that out!!

Weekend review- otherwise known as SHOE post.

Had a really great weekend. Sorry I am just posting today. My computer is on the fritz and I had to wait to get to another one. I ran a 5k Saturday for Make Every April Better foundation in  Tyler state Park. My sister and mother joined me and walked the trail. A whole week of no running and resting my knee prior to the race really did help. My knee felt great prior to run and did not hurt during the run. I came in at 30:26 which is a PR(personal record) for me!!! I was super stocked about this because after the first really big hill I thought I was a goner. I had to walk a little once I got to the top of that hill but ran the rest of the time and made great time. Even my sister had a personal best, walking 3.1 miles in 47 minutes. It was a cold one but we did it and we dedicated it to Boston with all our Boston gear!!!Image

We also got creative and took some shoe photos. lol

Image

I had already decided it was time for new shoes after this race but after seeing this picture I knew I needed a brighter pair!!! I love my Nikes! Scored a sweet deal on these from Kohls and can not wait to try them out tomorrow morning.

Image

We will have to take a new shoe picture now!!! LOL

After the run came party time. We had a great time at Austin’s First birthday and of course I have to show you my shoes again (this is nicknamed the shoe post)

Yes those are MINT snake skins!!!!! LOOOOOVE them. I am totally obsessed with Mint! Loving the new mint and coral combinations this season and just love how mint goes with my complexion. Way more mint to come from me this season.

We had family photos on Sunday at the park. It was super cold and Phoebe was a little booger but all and all they went really well. Hoping to get a sneak peek soon! Here is the aftermath

Image

Wait is that MINT again……LOL maybe!!! Wait and see

Pat and I needed a nap afterwards!

Monday morning I woke up at 530 to run before Pat left for work. I am hoping to do this Wednesday and Friday this week as well. It felt really great to get my run done early in the morning and not have to worry about fitting it in later.  I ate really well so far this week and hope the scale is nice tomorrow. I will be getting ready for Phoebe’s 2nd Birthday all week. Getting a little crafty, trying some new things, lots of cleaning and some baking. She turns two on Saturday!!! EEEEEKKKK Where has the time gone? Till then I will leave you with a selfie!!

This is me

who the hell knows what the title for this post should be?

Feeling quite sluggish all week without my runs. I decided early in the week to rest and ice my knee this week because I have a race Saturday. Already being off track “diet wise” and then not being able to run is really putting a damper on things. My run makes me feel alive. I absolutely eat better on the days I run. For some reason I feel more attuned to my body. I give my body what it needs and find it easier to not over indulge. I obviously get an immediate energy burst from my runs and without that have found it hard to even walk. So pathetic. I have walked a little this week but not nearly as much as I wanted to. Some good news….My knee feels great. I guess the real test is tomorrows race. In my extremely professional opinion, as long as it doesn’t hurt when I run its fine but don’t worry I will ask my doctor (AKA best friend who is a nurse) 🙂

I will keep you updated on how tomorrow goes…..

This quote really has helped put things in perspective.

I was being a rebel these last 2 weeks. Not counting calories, not worring about everything I put in my mouth and it was so freeing. But not true to my goals. Not true to the path I want to be on. I can not get anywhere if I stay off track. Maybe a mini cleanse (clean eating) is in order to step up my game.

P.S. We will be dedicating our run tomorrow to Boston. Always in our hearts!!

Wellness Wednesday

Weighed in at 188lbs this morning. That is a .5 weight gain. I can truly say that I am so happy that my off days/week is not resulting in major gain. I know even though I have been out of sorts with my diet that I am still not overly eating like I use to. I still pretty much eat 5 meals and have good portion control. I did have a goal to hit this Sunday. I wanted to be 185 for my family pictures on the 21st. I am obviously not expecting that anymore but a pound or two loss by Sunday would be nice 🙂

Icing the knee and itching for Saturday’s 5kImage

P.S.Ran out of coffee this morning so right now I just hope I make it through the day with all kids alive 🙂 EEEEEKKKKKK

Off track

One thing after another in this household lately. Two different viruses went through the house and I hurt my knee. I haven’t been on top of my diet at all. Literally eating everything in site 😦

My friends and I are signed up for a 5k this Saturday. In hopes that I can run on Saturday, I am not gonna run this week and just ice the knee when I can. Already feels better after icing all day yesterday. I don’t wanna lose my work out routine so a lot of walking this week and of course my strength training days are the same. I usually do an arm workout I found on pinterest twice a week. I absolutely hate my arms so I hope this helps with tank top season around the corner.

Everybody seems to be feeling better. The laundry is piled up and it’s beautiful out today. Today is a new day.

P.S. Boston is forever in my heart and I hope to run next year next to my cousin with my middle finger in the air. Races are exciting, adrenaline filled, happy moments. They create bounds between people. They create lasting memories in families. They are positive experiences and no one will take that away.

Mommy Summer Joys

The beginning of the week really got us all excited for summer. After a teasing winter, the nice weather hits and everybody is “facebook status” stoked to be out in the sun and fresh air. Believe me I am stoked for these things as well but my priorities have changed a little since becoming a mom.

Now one of my favorite things about the nice weather is the fact that you don’t have to bundle the kids up to go outside. What does this mean for mommy? Less of a fight to get everyone dressed and less clothing/accessories thrown all over the house. Plus slip on shoes make for more independence on the kids part. Second thing is the fact that we can eat outside. Since apparently I am raising food slinging monkeys, not children, I love that the mess stays outside and hopefully mother nature has the dirty job of clean up. Of course playing outside exhausts the monkeys kids and mama as well but I am more willing to exhaust my energy when I know I will have sleeping babies later 🙂

So you would think with all these great benefits of nice weather that my house would be clean all summer because all the mess is outside…..HA hell nooooo , who has the time to clean when you are outside all day?! 🙂

PS. ONE thing I love that has not changed since becoming a mom. Nice weather = Shirtless tattooed MEN husband!!!! 🙂

Wellness Wednesday!!!

Weigh in day. Scale read 187.5 this morning. YAY Buddy!  I have been able to keep up with my 5 meals a day and shake in the morning all week. Went back to produce junction to stock up on fruits and veggies. Yesterday I made a summer salad that I found on Pinterest. Its from Skinnytaste.com….Great recipes there.

Image

Left is Pinterest picture and right is mine. My pic sucks but it was good. I did not have the cilantro and can see how it would be even more amazing with it plus I added cucumbers. Good stuff.

A none scale victory for me this week includes me having to dry all my jeans after every use because they are falling off of me. LOL I am a size 12-14 right now. I don’t think I am ready for a 10 or anything, so I won’t be shopping just yet. I am just at that awkward in between stage. Happy with a lot of my choices this week. Avoided milk shakes and cheesecake!!! It was hard but this accountability factor really helps. Thanks for keeping me accountable.

Let’s hear from you

sickbaby

Poor little Phoebe has been sick for days so my life has consisted of boogers, crying and children Tylenol. She is a hot mess. Without knowing how horrible my week was gonna be I registered for the 5k in my neighborhood on Sunday. It was very uneventful. I got there, I ran, I came home to the same hot mess I left 45 minutes ago. I did a pretty good pace of 11 miles per minutes. I am not gonna lie I was kinda hoping for a steady 10 minute mile but I think the lack of sleep this week really got to me in mile 3. Here is my after pic!
afterrace

Since my week was pretty boring I would like to hear from you. I would love to know more about my readers. I was looking for a fun question that would get everyone thinking and here it is….

If you were to see your 16 year old self today, list 5 things you would tell him/her?

My answers

1. Be single

2. Join a team

3. Put the mac and cheese away ( NO MORE CAITLYN)

4. DANCE as much as possible bc someday it just won’t look right when you try to drop it like it’s hot!

5. You ARE Beautiful!!! Enjoy Everyday!!! Live in the now 🙂

Let’s hear from you on this beautiful Monday.
